IBI training workshop in Belleville

Do you want to learn more about Intensive Behaviour Intervention and how you can implement it at home? A plan is currently in the works to have an official from the Geneva Centre for Autism, Toronto, to conduct this hands-on workshop in IBI skills and techniques for parents/grandparents/caregivers of autistic children at Family Space on May 12, 2009 in Belleville. The workshop is expected to explain Intensive Behaviour Intervention in a simple and practical manner to be able to follow on your own with your child at home. It is expected to focus on teaching strategies, including prompting and reinforcement techniques and presentation of variety of assessment tools. It will help to know the number of people who would like to attend this workshop as there is cost involved to pay the trainer's fee of $2,000. The more the number of participants, the less cost it will be for each individual interested in signing up. The workshop is expected to be all day, exact details of cost, time are yet to be determined. If interested, please inform Julie london who is coordinating the workshop by emailing her at jlondon@familyspace.ca or me at bsangma@cogeco.ca.

In it for the long haul...

I created this blog with my sincere wish that those of you reading this will want to share your own stories, both good and bad, what worked for you and what didn't and together, we can make it easier for the next family beginning their own journey of discovery. By posting what you know, where you have recieved certain services, who you have talked to, whose expertise you trust, how you navigated the school education services and by responding to questions in the discussion thread, know that you have helped a family in need. So, parents, experts in the field, counsellors, teachers and everyone who has any information on resources available, please feel free to post on this blog.
